For parents

iStar helps children practise a little every day, with streaks and stars that make it a habit. Here is what that means for your child and their data.
How your child uses iStar
- They sign in with a Google account, such as their school account, and choose a name, avatar and grade.
- Each day's plan is three short practices in each of Maths, Science and English, about 45 minutes in all.
- Practising earns stars. On the ⭐ Star page you can see what they earned each of the last 7 days, to agree what screen time or treats are worth.
- In the shop, buying spends stars and gives a receipt to show you. You decide whether and when to give what was bought.
What we keep about your child
Their Google name and email, the name, avatar and grade they choose, their answers and progress, and their shop purchases. We use it only to run iStar for them. We show no ads and sell no data. The full details are in our Privacy page.
What other children can see
On the League page, other students see your child's chosen name, avatar and how much they practised. They can't see answers, progress details or purchases. A share card is made only if your child taps Share, and shows their first name, avatar and that practice's results.
Reminders and notifications
If your child turns on reminders in their profile, iStar sends one notification in the evening on days they haven't practised. They can turn it off there at any time.
Seeing, changing or deleting data
Email contact@istar.fun from your email address with your child's name, and tell us what you'd like: a copy of their data, a correction, or deletion of their account and history. We'll check it's you and reply within 30 days. You can also delete the account and everything in it straight away from Profile → Delete account.
